Buttons and switches feel reasonably solid for a device at this price point. The controls are fairly easy to figure out and use. It is programmed with 6 presets, for various types of meat and fish. It is also easy to set a custom temperature. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

The damn thing works great and I love it. 2 days ago I was moving things around and it fell out of my hand into the vat of the Epsom salt. I immediately retrieved it, remove the battery, then laid it on a towel. I had written the damn thing off until just now, when after trying another crappy thermometer I decided to turn this thing on for shits and giggles. The damn thing still works, and I love it. You should buy one.

I had a thick T-Bone Steak (About 1-3/4 inches thick) to grill. Salt and peppered it about an hour before cooking inserted the temperature probe and baked it in my oven at 250 degrees. Set the temperature to 115 degrees. The alarm went off at 115 degrees in about 30 minutes. I had my gas grill heated to a high temperature and put in the steak to sear it. Turned it in about 3 minutes, put in the temperature probe and set it to 125 degrees. When the alarm went off I removed the steak and covered it with foil and let it set for about 7 minutes. It came out perfectly medium and very jucy. The temperature probe worked perfectly.

Love this product. I have been using this product twice for two major holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I used the temperature setting both times. It's very easy to monitor the temperature of roasted turkey and prime ribs in the oven. It beeps when the preset temperature is researched. Turkey and prime ribs were roasted perfectly each time. It saves lots of testing for doneness and unnecessary poking. Definitely recommend this item for all.

I highly recommend this product, if you've made it this far in my review: if you use the target-temp (having an alarm go off when your food reaches a specified temp) set the target temp 5-10 degrees below what you want, especially on meats. When you remove your food from the oven, stove, grill, etc. it keeps cooking and will move that last few degrees to your target temp! Godspeed!

I like this way more than any other instruments we have purchased in the past. It gives room temperature as soon as turned on. Meat readings have been quick and accurate. The most unusual and probably not a good thing to do is to take your own temperature. I have 5 digital temperature instruments and 5 very different readings. VERY FRUSTRATING IN THESE DAYS! One of them is consistently very close to this thermometer. Consequently, I have carefully used it myself but would never use it on a child or anyone. I'm willing to do it very carefully and rarely.
