I have a knife set that comes with the small sharpener that doesn't work well. I also have very nice sharpening systems I use for my nice knives. I wanted something I could quickly touch up a blade in the kitchen. This is perfect for that purpose. I have actually started using it on my pocket knifes occasionally just to keep them with a good edge.

I had knives that I tried sharpening with other products and they never worked. When I purchased this sharpener and followed the directions using all three stages my knives are sharp as a razor....Cuts through a tomato with ease and no squishing them...I bone my own whole chicken with ease...Well worth the price for this sharpener....Finally a sharpener I can pleased with....

I was fully expecting to return this product after testing. To my surprise & satisfaction, the thing actually worked. All of our smooth knives cut like new now. It is very easy to use, compact & works well. I would strongly recommend to anyone with dull knives.

I've only had this a few months now so I'm not sure how long this sharpener will stay effective, but it works very well to get rid of nicks and imperfections in the blade and restore a good edge. I've used this to resharpen some kitchen knives and a few other pocket and hunting knives then used a steel rod to maintain them. Again, no long term use yet but so far it's been great to freshen up some dulled blades.

I like the size - it's not too big, it fits in a kitchen drawer. It does a nice job sharpening. I sharpened my chef's knife and a paring knife the first day, and was VERY pleased with the improvement in cutting performance. A word of warning . . if you've been using dull knives and you sharpen them with this, they really will be sharp and you can cut yourself easily if you treat your knives like dull knives!! So, be careful!

When my wife got me this knife sharpener for Christmas I was a little skeptical because I've owned similar sharpeners before and they never really seemed to work. So to test it I pulled out one of our older knives that would barely serve as a butter knife. I made 5 passes on each stage and could immediately tell the difference. After a few more passes I was easily shaving the hair off my arm. By the time I was done 'testing' it, i had sharpened 10 or so kitchen knives that were dull and this sharpener within 5 to 15 passes had them all shaving sharp. Very impressed with this sharpener.
